Clarification on the Interview due Tuesday.

A fellow student wrote--and got some class participation extra-credit--and asked me to clarify what I want you to do for the Interview assignment I mentioned at the end of class on Thursday. After considering exactly what it was I did want you to gain, I wrote the following response:

There's no extra writing involved. The idea is for you to get to know one or two folks with whom you've found some connection through the introduction and exchange process. Consider this an exercise in networking. Try to gain some more insight into these people than was possible in a short introduction and email exchange. Call it an interview or call it gabbing; just get to know them better. I'm hoping you'll begin to make some tentative decisions about with whom you'll want to work in groups. My advice is to email and set up a phone exchange or get together with someone(s) for coffee. Again, there's no extra writing involved at all. I may, however, ask random folks in class to tell us about the person with whom they spoke.
